LivelySparrow97 and Rebecca King discussed TV Spot #1 for Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. At the end, we would love to hear your opinion. If you wanted to, you could open up a word or notepad and take notes on your thoughts as you read the commentary. The picture numbers refer to the pictures from the trailer screen capture page.
Rebecca King: Before we begin, I would like to take the time to say some kind words about Kitkatgirl200 who died when Louis pushed her into Charybdis.
LivelySparrow97: She lived, she died, God rest her soul. The funeral dinner’s at 2.
Rebecca: Make sure you bring the fruit salad!
LivelySparrow97: From what I’ve seen the trailers, this scene looks really really fun! This is probably (one of) the scene(s) that I’m most looking forward to.
Rebecca: What’s cool is that this was actually built. How cool would that be to actually climb it!
LivelySparrow97: This just goes to show that Thor and co. actually read the book!
Rebecca: I agree! Stanley Tucci really captures Mr. D. He already is a really great actor, but with all we have seen, I have no doubt that he will rock as Mr. D if not steal the show at times.
LivelySparrow97: It makes me so happy! And I’ll agree with Rebecca and say for the hundredth time how awesome Stanley Tucci is as Mr.D.
LivelySparrow97: Another thing I’m really really psyched for is the action scenes. Mostly Annabeth in action (take that Katniss and Hermione), but ya’ know, everyone else is pretty cool too.
Rebecca: I can’t wait to see the comical action Grover will bring. It will be cool to see each of the demigods/satyr fighting styles.
LivelySparrow97: To me, that just looks fake. But I’ve only seen a half a second of him, so I’ll reserve judgement until I see the movie. Hmmm, I wonder who he’s chasing.
Rebecca: I think how they made Polyphemus is part costume, part CGI. (Costume head can be seen in Myths Revealed at 32 seconds.) Like how they did the minotaurs in the Narnia movies, but this looks very fake. But my brothers have made me respect the digital creation process when watching them try to make CGI as it is very hard. So I was wondering, when Grover kicks the rope, does it release the rock that falls on top of Polyphemus?
LivelySparrow97: Let me just say, Tyson isn’t my favorite character. I try to like him, I really do, but there’s just something about him….. Anyway, this will no doubt be exciting to watch. Very canon! Take notes Chris Columbus!
Rebecca: I feel like I keep agreeing with you today. Tyson never was my favorite character in the books. Of what I have seen so far of Douglas Smith as Tyson, he will ace how Tyson acts perfectly, so you all can guess how much I’ll like him. I hate whiny characters! *cough* Frank! *cough*
LivelySparrow97: *Rebecca and Louis begin to plot a scheme in which Frank’s little stick of wood burns to ashes* MWAHAHAHA
Rebecca: *tries to evilly laugh* Its a good thing Kit isn’t here or else she might toss us up to scylla!
LivelySparrow97: This is just another one of those thousand scenes I’m super pumped to see in this movie. I’m really hoping we get to each character take down a bull themselves. Percy kills a bull, Clarisse kills a bull, Annabeth kills a bull, Tyson kills a bull etc. Yes, I realize that would be a ridiculous number of bulls, but I don’t care.
Rebecca: I wanted to point out that people had said that Riptide looked like it was a chain. The chain throwing and the Riptide throwing are two different scenes. As we saw in the other trailer, he throws Riptide when he is cornered. It would be funny if Percy lassoed the bull with the chain!
LivelySparrow97: This TV spot showed us some exciting new things to look forward to. Polyphemus, Mr.D’s unforgettable quotes, some bullfighting, and a whole lot of canon scenes! The movie people are doing a fantastic job of marketing this to the everyday movie-goer and the diehard fan!
Rebecca: For being so short, the TV spot showed a lot. I saw it on TV while watching Disney XD and it really gets your attention when it plays. I think this will really interest fans and people who in the future will become fans. This is just one other trailer that has gotten me even more excited! I hope you all liked reading our analysis, but if you didn’t then it is all Louis’ fault for killing Kit!! So blame him!
LivelySparrow97: *restrains himself from tossing Rebecca into Charybdis* Kit provoked me! She was asking for it.
Rebecca: If I don’t return for the next commentary, point your finger at Louis.
