Rosario Dawson as Persephone

Rosario Dawson

Name: Rosario Dawson

Date of Birth: May 9, 1979

Hometown: New York City, New York

Facts: This exotically stunning actress, who has a built in resourcefulness to her, has been primarily a film player thus far. Only recently has she been opening herself up more to doing TV (the series “Gemini Division” (2008), which she executive-produced), and animated voiceovers. Rosario Dawson obviously acquired the best-looking genes from her multi-ethnic heritage, which includes Afro-Cuban, Puerto Rican, Native American and Irish, yet it is her gritty, powerhouse talent that stands out even more in edgy, urban filming that dates back to 1995 when she was only 16.

What I have seen her in: Men in Black II, Eagle Eye, Seven Pounds

What you might have seen her in: The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, SpongeBob SquarePants, Seven Pounds, Killshot, Gemini Division, Eagle Eye, Explicit Ills, Robot Chicken, Death Proof, Descent, Grindhouse, Clerks II, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Rent, Little Black Dress, Sin City, This Revolution, Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure ,Alexander, The Rundown, Shattered Glass, This Girl’s, 25th Hour, The Adventures of Pluto Nash, Men in Black II, The First $20 Million Is Always the Hardest ,Ash Wednesday, Love in the Time of Money, Chelsea Walls, Trigger Happy, Sidewalks of New York, Josie and the Pussycats, King of the Jungle ,Down to You ,Light It Up, Side Streets, He Got Game, Girls Night Out, Kids

Who she is playing: Persephone

What I think about her playing the role: In the three movies I have seen Rosario she has preformed well. I think she’ll do great at playing Persephone even though she is not what I imagined she would look like.

commonsense – don't be stupid. the book says itself that the gods don't show their thrue forms to humans/demigods. that means she can be whatever she wants.

    commensense you are an idiot…
It is a film, get over it. Also, the book is set in America, where the Gods live. Read the books, it says gods move to different cites through different ages, america is a multi cultural place and god can change the way they look.
Also all of that is irrelivant. White people frequently play other races, and by the way i am white, and no body complains. She is a good actress so learn some basic understand of society. Also your name amuses me, so stupid

Why did Charleston Heston play Moses in the 10 Commandments? Not only that, almost the entire cast where White and passing off as Egyptians and the Ancient Israelites. Teach your children that, too! Teach them how in Sci- Fi White people are always in the forefront in discovering and conquering other things.

Now when non-Whites play certain roles such as a Greek goddess our underwear gets all knotted up. Where were you when roles such as Cleopatra was played by a White woman?

This just shows how narrow-minded a particular race of people are.

What is good for the goose is not good for the gander as far as they are concerned.

Besides, it is foolish. This is just a movie. Yet, you would instruct your children from it?

Why is a Latina actress playing a GREEK goddess? This is unrealistic and an insult to Greek heritage. Google "persephone". The classic images of her did not look like Rosario Dawson. I am outraged at the thought of non-blacks playing blacks, non Native Americans playing Native Americans, etc. It's just not right. And now at a non Greek hijacking the classic tale of the great Persephone. Unbelievable. I'll be teaching my children that she is NOT representative of Persephone. Respect other race's cultures! A Greek playing a Latina instead of a Latina would be just as stupid. This is not a celebration of Greek and Roman culture, it is a hijacking and disrespect of it!
