When we started to look at the posters we noticed that the Hera poster did not look right. The poster is of Medusa played by Uma Thurman! Weird mistake but no big deal!

I think the Vietnamese poster taglines come out as:

King of the gods: Zeus

Goddess: Hera (who is actually Medusa)

Terminator (Hades)

Queen Hades: Persophone

<Something> fish: Poseiden (We need help with this translation. THAN BIEN. See above for accents. If you know what this means please send us a message or leave a comment below)

January 11, 2010 the Los Angeles Times posted an article about Chris Columbus’ take on Uma Therman as Medusa in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. The article can be found HERE.

The post talks about how Chris Columbus, the directer of Percy Jackson, said that one of the main reasons that he took on Percy Jackson was the “sinister appeal” of Medusa. Columbus went on to say that “As a kid growing up, she was the most frightening creature. I remember watching an old Hammer picture called ‘The Gorgon,’ and the original [1981 film] ‘Clash of the Titans.’ They never got Medusa right. For me, she’s not just hideous. Medusa’s history is tragic at best.”

Columbus’ first pick for Medusa, Uma Thurman, know for the Kill Bill movies. Columbus said about Uma Thurman, “With Uma, you get an extra added layer of intense sensuality and toughness.”

We will see if Chris Columbus’ vision comes out in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, opening February 12th.

Facts: Uma Karuna Thurman, daughter of Robert Thurman and Nena Thurman, was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 29, 1970. Uma grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts, where her father worked at Amherst College. She left boarding school at just 15, already determined to become an actress. She moved to New York to follow her dream. A breakthrough role for the tall, blonde actress came when she played Cecile de Volanges in Dangerous Liaisons (1988). More attention came with the NC-17 rated Henry & June (1990), but it was Thurman’s role in the Quentin Tarantino classic Pulp Fiction (1994) that earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. What I think about her playing the role: I think she will play an awesome Medusa. She for sure has that look, no offense. She played Poison Ivy well in Batman & Robin. I don’t think she’ll fail us here.
