The Blue Team was coming back from another victory. All of them cheering and dancing and yelling out, “Blue team for the win!” Their leader, Rebecca, was giving a speech.
“That’s another win for us, guys. Now the Red Team doesn’t even stand a chance anymore. Once the next challenge comes, we will take the entire team!! Oh and Jason…” She had a cold chill go down her back. “Ivy go check on Jason. He has been way to quiet.”
She knew Jason was in a really well guarded area and there was no way of escaping, but he was the son of Hermes. His cage was located in the forest, guarded by Kieran and Hannah. They would switch off with other teammates every three hours until bedtime. Once Ivy got to the cage she saw Hannah holding Kieran back with all her strength. She could hear Kieran yelling at Jason for getting ahold of some spray paint and coloring her weapons and armor red.
“How’s our lil’ prisoner doing today?” said Ivy. Jason just kept silent and seemed to be meditating. Ivy told Hannah about the win and told her to get ready for curfew before the harpies come out. They left Jason in the cage. Since his team lost the last challenge, he was stuck there… well till everyone went to sleep.
It was finally night time and this was the night he would escape. His past attempts failed on the count of Rebecca putting a tracking device on him. This time he debugged himself. The cage was built by Nyssa. She was daughter of Hephaestus so she enjoyed making this cage. The cage had some weird heat/lock system where the lock would change into a different lock once you got passed the code. Then it would turn super-hot. Jason stuck his hand on the lock and he could hear all the inners of the lock moving and twisting and changing. Jason, being a son of Hermes, has some abilities he didn’t tell a lot of people and that was the ability to open anything when he put his hand on it. His hand started to get hot meaning he was super close to becoming free. He summoned all his strength to keep going. He closed his eyes and prayed to his dad, Hermes
“Come on! Help me out here! I need to escape!!”
When Jason opened his eyes, his hand was red and hot, and the lock was on the floor. He was free. Kinda.
“You would think the alarm would go off or somethi-.”
He was cut off by the most annoying alarm ever. “Jason is escaping. He’s over here.”
He threw a rock at it till it broke. It was quiet and no one was coming so he was ok for now. He had to find his things first. His staff that turned into a sword, only Rebecca knew where it was. His winged shoes were tied to a tree somewhere in the woods. He could sense roughly where they were. Jason started walking to the Blue Team’s mansion. He had to find Rebecca.
Jason snuck in through a window and was in the main room. He went up the spiral staircase and saw a row of rooms, all the members of the Blue Team. Jason thought to himself on whether or not to pull a prank. He decided not to. He walked down the hallway till he found Rebecca’s room. It said Team Leader on the door. Even though it was now around 11 or 11:30 she was still up working on a battle strategy. Jason waited outside her room in a closet till she went to the bathroom. Once she went to the bathroom, Jason hoped out of the closet and into Rebecca’s room and waited for her. While he waited, he looked in her notebook and at some strategy plans. Then he grabbed a practice knife. Jason heard Rebecca come in and the look on her face was priceless. Not only was he holding a practice knife in one had but her notebook in the other. Before she could react Jason tackled her.
“Yes, I know this is late, but I’m ESCAPING!! And I want you to escort me to my belongings.”
“Yeah, I figured you would say that.”
Jason grabbed some rope and tied her hands together. He carried her downstairs and through the window then untied her once they were outside.
“Look, I’ll let you go once you show me where my stuff is. I swear on the River Styx!”
Rebecca thought about it for a while then she agreed. Then they set off into the woods. As they headed in deeper and deeper, they knew they were not alone.
“So where in the world did get the time to do this?” Jason asked.
“A girl has lots of time on her hands when her team is winning,” said Rebecca smiling evilly. “We are not that far from your shoes.”
“Yeah, I can tell. I can hear flapping or is that just me?” said Jason.
“Yeah, I can hear them too,” said Rebecca.
As they turned the corner, they saw Jason’s gold and black winged shoes flapping crazy fast as if they drunk four monsters! Jason ran over to them soo fast that even Rebecca felt a small breeze of wind come out of nowhere. Jason was in such an excitement that he didn’t even realize the crazy nymphs circling the shoes and coming out the ground and trees, forming around Jason and his shoes. Rebecca stood perfectly still as the nymphs started to awake and move like zombies. A couple of them became a little cranky from the flapping. These weren’t your typical happy, bubbly, fancy free, cute nymphs. Their clothes were tattered with broken and cracked leaves. Their hair was dry as Apollo’s chariot. One little nymph’s arm was scrawny and her veins were sticking out. They looked kind of hungry like a tiger looking at its prey. Rebecca tried to make a psssss noise to Jason who was putting on the shoes and tying them.
“Jason, we are on their part of the forest. We might want to leave.”
Jason saw what she meant. Half the nymphs turned toward Rebecca and the other half towards Jason. The only weapon between them was the practice knife. Jason and Rebecca both gave each other sad looks.
For nymphs they moved pretty slowly or maybe it was that Jason was moving really fast now that he had his shoes on. He saw one nymph advance on Rebecca and another one began to pounce on him. Out of the two, he was the only one with a weapon. Both Jason and Rebecca looked at each other as if they had a single plan had flowed through both their minds. Rebecca dodged the first nymph. Jason jumped into the air and flew over one. He came down on top of another and punched the nymph in the face. The plan was to run to each other and for Rebecca to jump into Jason’s arms so they could fly away. The plan was almost working till Jason tripped, causing Rebecca to trip. But they got back up quickly and Jason grabbed her hand. They shot off into the air.
While in the air Jason asked, “WHY WOULD YOU HIDE MY SHOES THERE?”
“It seemed like a nice place at the time,” said Rebecca. “Your staff isn’t far from here, but those crazy nymphs will follow us!”
Rebecca told Jason where his staff was in the forest. Once they landed, Jason saw his staff embedded in a tree. He walked forward and the staff started to glow. It shot out of the tree and landed in his hands and it turned into the sword. He raised it high and it transformed back into the staff with the wings and snakes entwined around it. The wings began to flap and glow.
“Well this has been a fun morning,” said Rebecca, “but we made a deal. Take me back.”
“Ok, I’ll take you back.” Jason smiled mischievously. “How about we run?”
The nymphs were behind them. Rebecca jumped on Jason’s back and they zoomed of to the Blue Team’s base. Once they were at the entrance of the gates, Rebecca walked over to a section in the wall. She pressed on a part of the wall and a small hatch opened. She pulled out a flare gun and shot off the flare into the sky letting the Blue Team know where she was. The look on Jason face was priceless.
“Jason, I believe you have thirty seconds before you get recaptured.” She smiled as if she was a daughter of Hermes.
Jason flew into the air, but he didn’t leave the Blue Team’s side just yet. Jason spotted something while flying, the flag of the blue team. Lots of ideas went through Jason’s mind once he landed and looked at it. It was six feet, two inches and the flag was so beautiful and a deep blue. Well it was beautiful till Jason spray painted the Blue Team’s Flag. Now across the flag it said, “RED TEAM FOR THE WIN”. Then Jason flew off to the Red Team.
