MY COMMENTARY ABOUT THE FIRST PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS TRAILER

If you haven’t seen the first Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters trailer yet, go to MTV to view it or you can watch it on Youtube (at the bottom of this page). Here is my commentary of the trailer. At the end, I would love to hear your opinion. If you wanted to, you could open up a word or notepad and take notes on your thoughts as you read my commentary.

Annabeth’s Hair
Most of us have already known it from the set pictures, but I’m restating that I am stoked that they changed her hair to blonde! It just makes Alexandra so much more Annabeth! It’s awesome!

Anthony Head as Chiron
I am thrilled that Anthony Head is playing Chiron. It would have been awesome if they would have kept Pierce Brosnan. I am however wondering why they made him grey. In the first movie even Brosnan has brown hair. He is also supposed to have a white centaur body, but Brosnan had a brown body, so I won’t fret on this one too much.

The Six Armed Barista
Anthony Shim is the barista you see in the picture. Why six arms? I’m not completely sure. Could be a monster? Could be just something random and funny?

One-Eyed Tyson
When Tyson turned around towards the camera I was like wow! Douglas Smith really was the perfect choice to play him. I wasn’t much of a fan of him in the book, but I think he’s now the one I can’t wait to see in the movie! One thing I do wonder, will they keep that he can mimic voices? Hmm…

Thalia’s Tree
The tree is awesome! I think what the blue force field is showing is that the barriers of Camp Half-Blood are restoring as at Clarisse’s feet is the Golden Fleece.

The Oracle
The attic is awesome. I wish it was Clarisse consulting the Oracle as done in the book, but I’ll live with the change.

Luke reveals Kronos Coffin
I believe Percy will see Kronos’ coffin at the beginning of their quest and at the end once they retrieve the Golden Fleece as we see his coffin on the ship and on Circe’s Island. I think how it will go down is Percy either ends up on the ship or is captured. Luke explains/shows about Kronos. Percy escapes. They find the island. They find the Golden Fleece. Luke and his henchmen arrive on the island too and fight for the fleece. Luke takes the fleece to heal Kronos. Now here it could go either way. Either Luke succeeds in healing Kronos or at the last second one of our heroes is able to take back the fleece.

Tyson’s Sunglasses
We saw them in the official stills and now we see them again in the trailer. I believe this will be how they use the mist. In the book, no one can look him in the eye and that’s how it’s hidden that he is one-eyed. I believe in the movie, sunglasses hide his eye. The sunglasses are an illusion of the mist. It’s an awesome way to do it for a movie. Of course in other scenes we see him with both eyes. Again, I think it will just be the mist doing its work to make us believe he has two eyes.

Princess Andromeda
The ship we see fly out of the water has to be the Princess Andromeda. It’s not a cruise ship, but for production costs using a yacht in its place seemed like a logical and smart move. Don’t you think?

Do I see orange?
An orange shirt! It’s hard to tell, but it looks like they are wearing Camp Half-Blood shirts in the background! Happy dance!

Gray Sisters’ Taxi
The scene in the trailer is awesome and fun. Really cannot wait to see it in the movie!

Chariot Race Replacement
Some of you won’t like this, but I believe the tower climb we see in the trailer will replace the chariot races. It looks like a cool, fast paced replacement.

Grover Kidnapped!
Grover Underwood is kidnapped by Chris Rodriguez. I wonder why. Is it for leverage so that Percy will go find the fleece for Luke? Or will Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson be taken to? This could lead up to the scene of Luke revealing Kronos’ coffin.

The Round Object
What is the round object Percy is holding? A compass? I would love to hear your guesses.

Escaping the ship
I am thrilled to see they are keeping Hermes cool gifts. In the lifeboat it looks like it’s just Annabeth and Percy (unless that is Tyson). So either Tyson escapes on Rainbow or Percy has some cool underwater battle.

Rainbow
Seeing Tyson and Rainbow together, it was a heart jerker. I know there will be some funny and heartwarming moments to come between the two.

Manticore
This completely confirms that the manticore is in the movie. However, is it Dr. Thorn? If it is then it could be a cool way to tie into the next movie. It just looks awesome that he’s hunting Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson.

Clarisse Fighting
This picture of Clarisse is proof (well almost) that the picture we were discussing has to be real. http://www.percyjacksonmovies.com/another-set-photo-8819/

Colchis Bulls
The bulls are smashing through cabins! Uh-oh! I loved the scenes of the bulls in the book, so I can’t wait to see them in the film.

Riptide
Percy still clicks Riptide. It was already in the first movie, so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal that it will continue into the next.

In the Raft
I mentioned up above that it looks like Annabeth is alone in the raft with either Tyson or Percy. But here, they are altogether again. So either Percy escapes by swimming or Tyson catching a lift from Rainbow. I’m hoping for the latter.

Charybdis
This scene looks awesome! I’m starting to wonder if this will be when Clarisse rescues them since the Hydra was used in the first movie.

The Plot Change
Grover is tagging along to find the fleece. We do know, however, that he gets kidnapped by Luke’s henchmen (Chris Rodriguez and all). We’ll see how it turns out when we see the movie. This is the one thing I’m unsure of, but I’m not worried about it. Things do have to give for movies. Overall this movie looks a lot closer than the last. It feels more like an adventure too! A Percy Jackson adventure that is!
